Comptroller - Part Time Senior Counsel Attorney IV-V (25 hours) (00045271) - Organization: Comptroller of Public Accounts
Overview: The Comptroller's Office is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Counsel Attorney to join our team on a part-time basis. This position offers a competitive salary and flexible work schedule, as well as the opportunity to work on a variety of legal matters and support the agency in shaping public policy. The ideal candidate will have strong research skills, at least 9-10 years of experience practicing law, and a passion for public service.
Salary Information: • Part-Time (25 hours per week) • Attorney IV: $5,512.50 - $6168.75 per month • Attorney V: $6,168.75 - $6,562.50 per month • Hardworking applicants with great references are eligible to telework up to 2 days per week

Experience: • Minimum of 9-10 years of experience practicing as a licensed attorney in a position requiring advanced legal research • Experience researching advanced and complex areas of law, such as federal tax law, bankruptcy law, securities law, or banking law • Experience drafting legislation and administrative rules, and advising on open meetings • Experience related to the financial services industry or knowledge of finance

Responsibilities: • Provide legal advice to senior- and executive-level agency staff, while maintaining effective working relationships • Conduct legal research and interpret state and federal laws • Draft legal memoranda and other complex legal documents • Review and revise agency forms and publications for accuracy and legal compliance • Collaborate with subject matter experts to draft legislation and administrative rules • Draft executive and taxpayer correspondence • Contribute to special project research and analysis
Requirements: • Graduation from an accredited law school with a J.D. degree or equivalent • Active license in good standing to practice law in the State of Texas
