Position Summary: Part-Time Paralegal/Legal Assistant at Oregon Citizens’ Utility Board (CUB) to work on regulatory litigation team. Responsible for managing litigation caseload and providing organizational support for legal advocacy work before Oregon courts and administrative agencies.

Job Responsibilities: - Track, calendar, and manage dockets and case-related deadlines - Schedule meetings and confirm appointments related to litigation and administrative proceedings - Arrange for service and filing of pleadings and documents - Draft, proofread, cite-check, edit, and format filings and legal correspondence - Communicate professionally with agency staff, court clerks, and other outside persons - Manage files and organize case materials, discovery, and data for litigation and administrative proceedings - Ensure compliance with court and agency rules and procedures - Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical responsibilities - Share administrative responsibilities and other tasks as needed
Qualifications: - Familiarity with environmental justice and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion - Experience with legal and/or business correspondence, serving and filing pleadings and documents - Experience managing and organizing legal files, including confidential information - Excellent word processing, document review, and editing skills - Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills - Detail-oriented with ability to work independently and meet deadlines - Friendly, professional demeanor and ability to work collaboratively - Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word and PDF Editors
Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge and experience with substantive and procedural law - Legal research and writing skills - Knowledge and experience with administrative law, energy and utility regulation - Knowledge and experience with Slack, Gmail, Teams, Zoom, and Google drive
Terms of Employment and Compensation: - Part-Time position in downtown Portland office with hybrid working arrangements available - 20 hours per week with fixed hourly schedule - Pay of $30/hour with PTO, holiday pay, medical insurance benefits, and 401(k) retirement plan
