SWAN Legal Services Initiative Paralegals
**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Together is currently seeking paralegals to join our team and work for the SWAN Legal Services Initiative (LSI). This program was designed to address barriers in the legal process that delay permanency for children in the child welfare system. Our LSI paralegals are based in each county's children and youth office and assist with all aspects of the legal process to ensure children are placed in safe and permanent homes.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Responsibilities
As an LSI paralegal, you will:
- Draft legal documents for solicitor review, including petitions, orders, motions, and stipulations - Participate in county court hearings and pre-hearing conferences - Assist with witness preparation for testimony - Facilitate and/or train on approved LSI training topics - Support county best practices - Conduct diligent searches to locate potential permanency resources or connections for children in the foster care system
Requirements
- General knowledge/work experience in legal or child welfare - Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, or paralegal certificate preferred - Minimum of 5 years related experience will be considered in lieu of degree and/or certification - Strong organizational and time management skills - Ability to thrive in a dynamic and collaborative work environment
