Paralegal - IP Litigation The candidate will assist with a full range of Intellectual Property litigation matters for a busy IP practice (Federal District Court (various states), TTAB, PTAB, USITC, Appellate). Assist attorneys and senior paralegals with fact investigation, drafting pleadings and correspondence, legal research, document preparation and production, database management, docketing, overall case management, electronic filing, trial preparation and attendance, and overall client service. Assist attorneys in fact investigation, custodian interviews, drafting pleadings and correspondence, legal research, document preparation and production, database management, docketing/case management, and overall client service. Learn/develop technical proficiency in eDiscovery database use and management; internet/electronic research; and project folder/electronic file maintenance. Independently organize and manage files in compliance with standard practices of the IP litigation team. Prepare materials for and assist in preparation for depositions, hearings, trials, and related proceedings and attend same if needed. Pre-trial preparation and trial attendance. Prepare draft pleadings, motions, and discovery including checking case law and record citations for accuracy and compliance with local procedures and Bluebook. Manage electronic filing of pleadings/documents and arrange for service. Assist with calendaring/docketing. Act as a liaison between clients, colleagues, and experts to ensure timely communication of case information and production of materials. Forecast the requirements in advance and coordinate fulfillment of all requirements. Stay informed of developments in the Intellectual Property practice area and the paralegal industry. Attend and participate in internal CLEs. Anticipate attorneys' needs. Serve as a mentor to a Paralegal Assistant, or more junior Paralegal, as needed. Meet the annual billable hour target of 1500 hours. Perform other duties as required. An Associate's degree is required. A Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate would be preferred. Must have 2 years of relevant experience. Significant, substantive legal-related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education at the discretion of the SBU Leader. Federal Court litigation experience is essential.
