Bay Area Legal Services, a non-profit organization, is currently seeking a full-time Paralegal for their Family Law Team. The position is based in Ybor City, Tampa, FL.
Job Title: Paralegal (Family Law) Organization: Bay Area Legal Services Department: Family Law Team Location: Ybor City, Tampa, FL Salary: Starting hourly rate of $26.15/hr, with potential for increase based on relevant experience
Responsibilities:
- Interview new and continuing service clients, ensuring grant compliance - Investigate facts, examine law sources, and prepare complex legal documents under attorney supervision - Handle individual client matters independently, under attorney supervision - Assist with CL referrals, case closing procedures, and other grant-related tasks - Perform tasks as assigned by supervising attorney, including private attorney involvement as appropriate
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a paralegal with an AA degree in paralegal studies or 1-year experience with a Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies (or 5 years' experience as a paralegal in lieu of education) - Excellent time management, organizational, and detail-oriented skills - Strong written, verbal, and proofreading abilities - Client-focused with the ability to work effectively and compassionately with low-income clients facing social, economic, and legal issues - Ability to exercise sound judgment and complete tasks independently - Team player with the ability to work in a supportive and friendly environment - Extensive knowledge of legal documents, procedures, terminology, and case management systems - Stress management, multitasking, and telephone etiquette skills - Experience using legal case management systems
Desirable Qualifications:
- Previous experience at a non-profit organization - Florida Registered Paralegal (FRP) through Florida Bar - Familiarity with legal document automation/assembly tools
Compensation and Benefits:
