The Paralegal will provide secretarial, paralegal, and administrative support to attorneys in the General Civil Unit of the Trial Section. Job Duties:
• Provide secretarial support to attorneys in the General Civil Unit of the Trial Section. • Draft and edit legal documents, correspondence, and memoranda. • Manage all aspects of discovery. • Organize and maintain electronic files for all discovery. • Communicate with clients, experts, and opposing counsel. • Prepare responses to discovery requests. • Conduct fact-gathering and document interviews. • Prepare trial exhibits and materials. • Schedule witnesses and arrange for subpoenas. • Handle administrative tasks related to active trial practice. • Provide backup paralegal support to other units in the Trial Section. • Electronically file in various courts using VACES and CM-ECF/Pacer system. • Prepare and process travel vouchers and requests. • Schedule conference rooms and court reporters.
Minimum Qualifications:
• 3-5 years of experience in a litigation practice. • Knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, case management systems, and document management systems. • Proficiency in time management and communication. • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and adjust priorities without close supervision. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work independently and as a team member. • Ability to work well under pressure and adjust priorities without close supervision. • Ability to interact effectively with a diverse workforce and the general public. • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate preferred. • Proficiency using personal computers. • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, databases, cite-checking, and legal search engines.
