GEICO, a leading insurance company, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Paralegal to join their Legal Department. This position will primarily support the legal teams in providing advice related to GEICO’s insurance products and distribution. The selected candidate must have strong technical skills, excellent communication and task management abilities, and be able to collaborate with all levels of leadership.
The Paralegal will be responsible for conducting research on insurance product regulations, collaborating with attorneys and outside counsel, and evaluating risk and complaints. They will also be expected to participate in insurance-related work teams and handle paralegal assignments related to other areas of law. This is a fast-paced work environment with high expectations and diverse assignments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and execute research plans for various insurance law topics - Collaborate with Legal Department attorneys and outside counsel - Research and resolve complex legal issues and matters - Evaluate risk and advise supervising attorneys - Conduct 50-state surveys on insurance law topics - Draft summaries and reports for Legal Department management and business partners - Participate in insurance-related work teams and activities - Handle paralegal assignments related to other areas of law
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a paralegal - Minimum of 1 year as an insurance law paralegal - Strong multitasking and ability to learn technical and procedural information - Excellent verbal and written communication skills
This position is a hybrid remote role, requiring the individual to work onsite 3 days per week in the Chevy Chase, MD office. The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $182,000.00, but the final salary will be determined based on various factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience and education, and market considerations.
