Our Law Firm is a mission-driven law firm dedicated to advocating for tenants’ rights and fighting against illegal housing practices. We provide aggressive legal representation to individuals facing wrongful evictions, habitability violations, and landlord harassment under California and federal law. Our team is passionate about ensuring justice and housing security for our clients. We are seeking an experienced Of Counsel / Trial Counsel Attorney to assist with litigation and trial work on a flexible basis. The ideal candidate has significant trial experience, strong litigation skills, and a commitment to tenant rights. This role is well-suited for attorneys looking for part-time, contract-based, or specialized trial work in housing law.
Key Responsibilities:
Represent tenants in housing-related litigation, including habitability claims and landlord harassment cases. Conduct depositions, argue motions, and manage pre-trial and trial proceedings. Develop litigation strategies and work closely with in-house attorneys to strengthen case arguments. Engage in settlement negotiations and mediation efforts. Provide legal counseling to clients and advise on trial strategies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of California tenant protection laws and procedural rules.
Qualifications:
J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in the California State Bar. 5 years of litigation experience, with a strong preference for trial experience. Proven ability to handle cases independently, including conducting trials. Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and courtroom presentation skills. Passion for tenant rights and social justice. Ability to work on a flexible, contract, or part-time basis. Experience handling complex civil litigation, class actions, or appellate work. Fluency in Spanish or another language commonly spoken by tenants. Can work remotely, must be able to drive to LA Courthouses for necessary FSC Trials only.
