Ocean Marine and Liability Manager Job Description: - Responsible for managing a team of claims examiners with varied experience levels - Oversee the resolution of low to high complexity claims, provide direction, coaching, and training - Report to the Director or Senior Director of claims and convey organization's objectives and priorities to staff - Analyze and assess performance metrics for the unit, including timely and accurate reserving, inventory management, and customer service expectations - Manage assignments to ensure effective and timely handling of claims - Communicate effectively with Senior Management, Product Line Leaders, Underwriters, Actuaries, Accounting, Reinsurance, and Human Resource partners - Manage, supervise, and provide guidance to Claims Examiners - Participate in large loss meetings, claims/underwriting roundtables, meetings with external business partners, actuarial meetings, and other claims related meetings - Implement strategic claims management plans - Oversee and mentor professional development plans for staff - Manage external vendors and business relationships - 25% travel required
Ocean Marine and Liability Manager Requirements: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience - JD, advanced degree, or focused technical degree a plus - Must have or be eligible to receive claims adjuster license - Successful achievement of industry designations (INS, IEA, AIC, ARM, SCLA, CPCU) - Excellent written and oral communication skills - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Strong organization and time management skills - Ability to deliver outstanding customer service - Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Word) - Ability to work in a team environment - Strong desire for continuous improvement
Ocean Marine and Liability Manager Responsibilities: - Direct daily functions to assure adherence to established guidelines and standards - Manage external vendors and business relationships - Manage assignments of work to ensure effective and timely handling of claims - Oversee and mentor professional development plans for staff - Implement strategic claims management plans - Communicate effectively with Senior Management, Product Line Leaders, Underwriters, Actuaries, Accounting, Reinsurance, and Human Resource partners - Catastrophe planning and claims handling on an as-needed basis - Oversight on complex coverage and litigation issues to ensure compliance and resolution - Participate in large loss meetings, claims/underwriting roundtables, meetings with external business partners, actuarial meetings, and other claims related meetings - Manage external vendors and business relationships - 25% travel required
