JOB SUMMARY This is a regular part time position and will provide coverage in both Roanoke and Franklin hospice locations.
This position will support Carilion's hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilites. This position will consist of blending science and art, the Music Therapist provides an initial assessment for referred hospice patients, determines therapeutic goals, and works with individuals, family members, and staff to meet these goals using a systematic application of music interventions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree in Music Therapy or equivalent. Masters Degree in Music Therapy preferred. Must meet educational requirements to achieve certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists. EXPERIENCE: Minimum experience inclusive of six-month internship at an approved facility under the supervision of a Board Certified Music Therapist. Prefer at least 1-3 years experience working with patients. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Certification by the Certification Board for Music Therapists, Inc. Must obtain/maintain AHA-BLS HCP (basic life support). Must have valid drivers license. OTHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Good communication and organizational skills. Must be flexible, professional, and a team player. Must be able to multitask, be focused and willing to learn.
