Law Firm Seeks Mid-Level Employment Defense and Compliance Attorney (Hybrid)

Responsibilities:
- Representing clients in wage and hour, misclassification, discrimination, and restrictive covenant cases in state and federal court and before administrative boards. - Assisting small and medium businesses with investigations by the Mass. Attorney General’s Fair Labor Division, the US Dept. of Labor or other government agencies. - Reviewing and drafting employee handbooks and advising clients on employment policies. - Drafting and negotiating employment agreements, non-solicitation and non-compete agreements, and commissions agreements. - Conducting workplace or jobsite investigations. - Conducting general civil litigation and/or transactional work. - Researching and preparing articles for publication in scholarly and trade journals.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school. - Minimum 4 years of relevant experience. - Strong academic credentials. - Admission to practice in Massachusetts. - Experience with Davis-Bacon and state prevailing wage requirements (preferred). - Admission to practice (or pending admission) in Rhode Island (preferred).
Employment Conditions:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to represent and advise clients on a variety of employment matters, including litigating cases, conducting investigations, and drafting agreements and policies. Litigating Employment Cases:
As our Mid-Level Employment Defense and Compliance Attorney, you will be responsible for representing clients in a range of employment cases, including wage and hour, misclassification, discrimination, and restrictive covenant cases. This will involve appearing in state and federal court and before administrative boards to advocate for our clients and protect their rights.
Assisting Businesses with Investigations:
In addition to litigating cases, you will also have the opportunity to assist small and medium businesses with investigations by the Mass. Attorney General’s Fair Labor Division, the US Dept. of Labor, and other government agencies. By providing our clients with skilled legal representation during these investigations, you will help them navigate complex employment laws and regulations.
Drafting Agreements and Policies:
As part of your role, you will also have the opportunity to review and draft employee handbooks and advise clients on employment policies. You will also be responsible for drafting and negotiating employment agreements, non-solicitation and non-compete agreements, and commissions agreements. By ensuring that our clients have strong, legally sound agreements and policies in place, you will help them protect their interests and avoid potential legal issues.
Conducting Investigations:
In addition to assisting businesses with investigations, you will also have the opportunity to conduct workplace and jobsite investigations. This may involve interviewing employees, reviewing documents and evidence, and providing recommendations to our clients based on your findings. Your ability to conduct thorough and unbiased investigations will be crucial in helping our clients maintain a fair and compliant workplace.
Research and Writing:
As a Mid-Level Employment Defense and Compliance Attorney, you will also have the opportunity to engage in research and writing activities. This may include preparing articles for publication in scholarly and trade journals on topics relevant to our firm’s client base. By sharing your knowledge and expertise with others in the legal community, you will help raise awareness of important employment law issues and contribute to the ongoing discussion and development of this area of law.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Strong academic credentials and admission to practice in Massachusetts are also required. Preferred qualifications include experience with Davis-Bacon and state prevailing wage requirements and admission (or pending admission) to practice in Rhode Island.
