Collaborates with Coding Support Manager for orientation, training and basic continuing education, as well as internal development and advancement of coding staff from basic to advanced skill sets. Consults with Physicians, Physician Office Staff, Payers, Patient Accounts, and Clinical Departments to identify coding-related needs for accurate reimbursement and compliant data capture. Manages the staffing assignments based on facility need. Responsible for internal and external staff scheduling to meet coding needs. Responsible for managing internal and external coding competency following Carilion policies. Manages vendor partners to ensure quality and productivity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Associate's Degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
EXPERIENCE: At least 2 years of lead or supervisory experience that demonstrates increased and/or diversified responsibility for management in a Clinical Documentation Improvement, Coding Department or other similar setting. Experience/exposure and working knowledge of coding, guidelines, and documentation requirements. Has demonstrated leadership, team building and problem solving skills. Excellent working knowledge of information technology systems. Possesses critical analytical skills and ability to present complex data.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR REGISTRATION: RHIT, RHIA, or coding certification (CCS, CPC, CPC-H) REQUIRED, OR, be an RN with BS and CCA or CPC-A within first year of hire.
OTHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced knowledge of Excel, Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
