The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is currently seeking a Managing Attorney for the Child Support Division (CSD). This is a full-time position with a salary range of $9,821.44 per month. The OAG is a dynamic state agency with over 4,000 employees throughout the State of Texas. As the State’s law firm, the OAG provides exemplary legal representation in diverse areas of law. The OAG is dedicated to encouraging responsible parenting and ensuring that children in Texas receive the support they need and deserve. The Managing Attorney in this role will have the opportunity to represent the State of Texas at legal proceedings and provide legal advice, counsel, and assistance in child support enforcement. They will also supervise office personnel, monitor office performance, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Responsibilities: • Representing the State of Texas at legal proceedings • Supervising office personnel and monitoring office performance • Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations • Providing excellent customer service • Developing and delivering training • Maintaining relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions
Qualifications: • Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree • Four years of full-time legal experience as a licensed attorney, two of which must have been in Family Law • Licensed as an attorney by the State of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas • Knowledge of Family Law and the Texas Family Code • Skill in legal writing, mediation, and negotiation • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines • Effective oral and written communication skills • Sound judgment and effective decision making abilities • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment • Ability to provide excellent customer service • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in the Texas Child Support Program • Experience in handling a high-volume legal practice • Management experience • Proficiency in Spanish
