Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Audio-Visual Technical Manager to oversee the technical operations of our A/V systems and infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of A/V technologies, equipment management, and troubleshooting, along with the ability to lead a team in maintaining and optimizing A/V setups for both internal and external events. The ideal candidate will be proactive, hands-on, and able to effectively manage A/V resources, ensuring high-quality performance in all technical aspects. The candidate will collaborate with the Director of User Experience ensuring seamless A/V services and address any technical issues that arise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Audio/Video Management and Coordination

Lead the design, installation, and configuration of A/V systems for both new and existing environments, ensuring optimal integration with organizational needs and technology infrastructure. This includes conference rooms, media production environments, and remote communication setups. Ability to test videos, audio, and signals to ensure proper functionality
Oversee the day-to-day management of A/V technologies, ensuring that all equipment, including video conferencing systems, audio systems, displays, and recording technologies, are operational and effectively meet business objectives
Provide troubleshooting support for A/V-related issues across the organization. Address hardware and software malfunctions promptly and perform root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, Facilities and internal training units to ensure A/V systems meet the needs of stakeholders
Support the U/X technicians, ensuring they have the necessary training and resources to maintain high-quality technical standards
On behalf of the Director of U/X, support with assigning tasks and ensure that deadlines are met for A/V setup and production requirements
Oversee the maintenance, repair, and calibration of A/V equipment across LAS locations
Manage inventory levels, ensuring all A/V equipment is in good working condition, and handle equipment upgrades or replacements, as necessary
Manage relationships with A/V technology vendors and contractors. Oversee product procurement, warranty services, and any third-party A/V services to ensure consistent quality and cost-effectiveness

 

Research, Analysis and Documentation

Stay up to date with the latest developments in A/V technology and proactively recommend improvements, upgrades, and new systems that enhance productivity, communication, and user experience
Identify effective troubleshooting/support solutions and methodologies to provide appropriate knowledge transfer to IT personnel
Maintain thorough documentation on A/V system designs, configurations, updates, and troubleshooting procedures. Regularly report on system performance, usage, and areas for improvement
Creates professional user-facing instructional documentation, including user guides, technical how to’s, and other knowledge transfer materials, as required. Utilizes publication and graphic design software for document creation
Assists Director of U/X with conducting research and assist in budget development for A/V equipment, software, and services. Ensure efficient use of resources while staying within budget parameters

QUALIFICATIONS

Required qualifications:

A combination of 7 years of post-secondary education and work experience, with at least 3 years of experience working in a technical and/or an end user support role

 

Preferred qualifications:

An associate or bachelor's degree is preferred but not required
2 years of experience working in A/V is strongly preferred
Experience with A/V amplification and cabling is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for the Role:  

Strong understanding of A/V systems and related equipment
Excellent communication skills to interact with end users, UX team members, and the organization's leadership. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional (IT) teams
Superior technical and creative critical thinking skills
Basic networking knowledge and concepts, including knowledge of TCP/IP ports, and basic routing fundamentals
Ability to work well under pressure and make decisions quickly
Ability to lead through uncertainty, assess and gather relevant information, recommend, resolve, or elevate resolution as needed
Ability to clearly identify roles, responsibilities, delegate tasks and create systems of accountability 
Ability to provide meaningful performance feedback for professional development including having difficult conversations and resolving sensitive employee issues

 Physical, environment, travel, and other duties required:  

Mostly sedentary, considerable time using a computer and monitor; communicating and meeting using video conferencing technology
Requires occasional physical movement to perform essential job functions which may include, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, standing, or walking for long periods of time, accessing small spaces
Will require travel within NYC, across the five-borough region
Ability to lift 50 pounds on an occasional basis
Ability to climb ladders, pull wires and conduit

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The salary range represents a good faith estimate of the range we expect to pay for this role. The actual salary offered may vary depending on many factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as collectively bargained salary steps for unionized roles.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $105,000
