Bering Straits Technical Services (BSTS) is seeking a Maintenance Electrician (SCA) to perform a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Reports to supervisor daily to receive assignments. In absence of the supervisor, report to the Project Manager. Maintains tools and maintenance equipment in good working order. Ensures maintenance shop is in neat condition. Will perform a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of eclectic energy. Will be installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment. Must be able to work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications; locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment. Must know working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment; and using a variety of electrician’s hand tools and measuring and testing instruments. Perform other related duties as required. NON - ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements : Required: High School Diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate. State Certified Journeymen Electrician License. Five years relevant work experience, and able to work independently. Valid State driver’s License with no major infractions. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance, granted interim clearance within 90 days of employment. Preferred: Associates Degree in similar field. Ten years of relevant work experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of acceptable electrical services and occupational safety and health regulations. Skillfully determine kind of tools and equipment needed to complete each task assigned. Ability to speak, read and write clearly in English Ability to work independently after given specific instructions Ability to work as part of a dedicated team of professional in a dynamic environment. Injury exposure could be minor cuts and bruises; considerable physical effort of hands and arms required. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires driving and working out of doors in extreme heat/ cold and possibly rainy weather and be able to work shifts if needed.
