Law Firm is seeking a highly organized and efficient Litigation Paralegal to join our team in New Orleans, Louisiana. Overview
As a Litigation Paralegal with Law Firm, you will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys and clients in complex litigation cases. We are looking for a highly organized and technically savvy individual with excellent time management skills and strong communication abilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in complex litigation, class action, and multi-district litigation, and be able to efficiently prioritize and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Assisting attorneys with scheduling and calendaring, both in Microsoft and in other docket software programs • Reviewing and analyzing client materials for the purposes of preparing evaluations, summaries, and status reports • Drafting routine legal documents and preparing trial exhibits and notebooks • Coordinating with expert witnesses, fact witnesses, and other resources • Performing legal research and assisting with discovery requests and document productions • Maintaining calendars to ensure compliance with deadlines
Qualifications and Skills
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat • Experience with e-filing systems and procedures in state and federal courts • Familiarity with file-sharing tools and electronic document management systems • Understanding of the litigation process, including class actions and multi-district litigation • Familiarity with case management software programs such as Relativity • Ability to quickly adapt to and learn new technology • Excellent time management and communication skills
Technical Requirements
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, including bates labeling, splitting and combining PDF documents, optimizing and reducing PDF files, etc. • Advanced knowledge of e-filing systems and procedures in state and federal courts • Experience and knowledge working with file-sharing tools to share documents a plus • Experience with and a good understanding of the litigation process, as it pertains to the role of a paralegal, including, but not limited to class actions, multi-district litigation, and complex litigation • Knowledge of case management software programs such as Relativity is a plus • Knowledge of the technology and processes of timekeeping, billing, and other administrative tasks • Experience working with electronic document management systems • The ability and willingness to quickly adapt to and learn new technology, as needed
Administrative Requirements
• Entering time as required for paralegals, and assisting with entering conflicts checks and opening client files as requested • Assisting attorneys with scheduling and calendaring, both in Microsoft and in other docket software programs (experience with Compulaw is a plus) • Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and other third parties at the direction of the attorneys • Managing the electronic case files • Reviewing and analyzing client materials for the purposes of preparing evaluations, summaries, and status reports • Drafting routine legal documents such as subpoenas and simple pleadings • Preparing trial exhibits, trial notebooks, expert witness notebooks, document indexes, and correspondence • Summarizing depositions and medical records, and other plaintiff records as necessary • Locating and conferring with expert witnesses, fact witnesses, private investigators, and other resources • Coordinating and providing appropriate materials needed to prepare for testimony, and providing assistance to attorneys preparing for trial and administrative support in court during trial • Performing assigned legal research using law libraries, electronic databases, and utilizing litigation software or business-specific software when required • Assisting with discovery requests, document productions, and settlement processes • Maintaining calendars to ensure compliance with all deadlines
