This position will work in our Sarasota, Florida office and will involve engaging in sophisticated and challenging litigation and financial services work for clients in Florida and nationwide. The ideal candidate will have experience in civil and/or business litigation and be able to work independently on cases involving contract and general business disputes.

As a Litigation Associate Attorney at Shumaker, you will have the opportunity to engage in sophisticated and challenging litigation and financial services work for clients in Florida and nationwide. This position will require the candidate to have 2-5 years of experience in civil and/or business litigation, and the ability to work independently on cases involving contract and general business disputes. The ideal candidate will also have strong technological skills, superior research skills, project management skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Engage in sophisticated and challenging litigation and financial services work for clients in Florida and nationwide - Work independently on cases involving contract and general business disputes - Draft pleadings and motions - Represent clients in court solo or as part of a team on complex litigation cases - Utilize strong technological skills, including proficiency with practice management systems and portals - Conduct thorough research using online services and databases - Manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines successfully - Communicate effectively through written and verbal communication - Work independently and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school - Active Florida bar license - 2 years of relevant professional law experience - Strong technological skills, including proficiency with practice management systems and portals - Superior research skills, including the use of online services and databases - Project management skills, including the ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills - Ability to work independently and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting position static for up to one-half hour at a time - Lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to one hour per day - Bending and stooping occasionally, up to one-half hour per day
