The Office of the Illinois Attorney General is seeking a Legal Secretary to join their team in Springfield. This permanent position serves as the Deputy Chief Admin for the General Law bureau and offers a salary range of $48,384 - $61,608 per year.
As a Legal Secretary, you will be responsible for performing legal secretarial and clerical work, requiring a basic knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures. Your duties will include typing various legal documents, scheduling and initiating clerical processing for cases, and maintaining detailed files. Additionally, you will be responsible for screening the public by phone and in person, and composing and typing correspondence.
To be considered for this position, you must have a minimum of 1 year of secretarial experience or be a high school graduate with 3 years of secretarial experience. You should also possess effective oral and written communication skills, as well as physical ability to file and duplicate information. Knowledge of office machines and equipment, particularly with prior training in Word Perfect, is preferred.
