Job Summary:
As a Legal Secretary in our St. Louis office, you will provide comprehensive support to multiple attorneys in labor and employment law matters. This includes preparation and revision of correspondence, pleadings, and documents, as well as e-filing, calendar maintenance, and other administrative tasks. You will also serve as an executive administrative assistant to our office managing principal, handling tasks such as managing appointments, creating budgets and client lists, and making travel arrangements. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to multiple attorneys in labor and employment law matters - Serve as an executive administrative assistant to the office managing principal - Prepare and revise legal documents and correspondence - Serve as a liaison between clients, internal departments, and outside agencies - Handle confidential and time-sensitive material - Complete conflict checks and open new client engagements - Assist with billing, collections, and expense reimbursement - Maintain calendars, CLE and bar licenses, and time records - Book and organize travel arrangements - Transcribe dictation and schedule depositions - Handle various office and client filing - Proofread documents - Assist with other office administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications/Skills Required:
- 5-10 years of recent experience as a legal administrative assistant in a law firm - Experience supporting litigation attorneys, preferably with a focus on labor and employment law - Familiarity with state and federal rules and procedures - Strong understanding of technical legal terminology and court filings - Experience with trial preparation and briefs - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Strong proofreading skills - Ability to meet deadlines, balance workload, and take initiative - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - Previous law firm billing experience is a plus - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment - High school diploma or equivalent required, 4-year college degree preferred
