Introduction:
A reputed law firm in Fort Lauderdale, FL is seeking a highly responsible and experienced Legal Secretary to join their team. The selected candidate will provide administrative and secretarial support to bar counsels, and will be responsible for maintaining disciplinary files, drafting legal documents, and managing calendars and meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and monitor disciplinary files in the case management system - Type and finalize drafted pleadings and correspondence - Set up monthly grievance committee meetings and maintain member lists - Answer telephone calls and make case notes in the case management system - Maintain bar counsels' calendars and schedule meetings and hearings - Prepare bar counsel's weekly expense report and perform other administrative tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent - Minimum of 5 years of secretarial experience - Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) - Skilled in use of personal computer and basic arithmetic - Ability to type 60 correct words per minute and pay attention to detail - Knowledge of legal terminology and format of legal pleadings - Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing - Ability to handle multiple tasks and work well under pressure - Must be able to sit for long periods of time and lift 5 to 10 lbs.
