This position will play a crucial role in assisting our attorneys with medical aspects of litigation, including case preparation, management, and execution. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual with a RN degree and work experience in a clinical setting.
Responsibilities: - Review, analyze, and summarize medical records and other relevant documents related to case medical facts or deviations from standards of care - Identify additional sources for obtaining medical records - Organize, tabulate, and index medical records and prepare medical chronologies - Research and integrate relevant medical and nursing literature to support the medical facts and issues of a case - Select and organize literature for trial and assist attorneys with preparation of trial exhibits - Identify, locate, interview, and evaluate potential experts and send expert packages for review - Maintain an expert database and research opposing counsel's experts - Schedule meetings and depositions and assist attorneys in maintaining scheduled dates - Perform clerical duties as needed, including typing and filing - Meet a minimum billing requirement of 140 hours per month (1680 per year) - Perform non-billable functions such as participating in strategic committees, assisting in seminar development, and mentoring and training new employees - Ensure all functions are performed in accordance with client guidelines - Remain flexible and open to requests for support or assistance outside of the scope of this job description and perform other duties as directed by the management team
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited school or college of nursing - RN degree and work experience in a clinical setting - Knowledge of legal principles and practices acquired through completion of a certified paralegal or legal nurse consulting education - Excellent organizational, prioritization, and attention to detail skills - Impeccable integrity in confidential matters - Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with attorneys, staff, and clients - Typing ability of 45 wpm and proficiency in computer and office equipment - Willingness to work more than 40 hours per week to meet financial goals - Ability to sit, bend, stoop, use a computer keyboard, and continuously use hands for typing, as well as lift up to 50 lbs. - Willingness to travel to offsite locations for record collection and information gathering
