Position: Legal Assistant – Estate Planning and Probate Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications Department: Estate Planning and Probate Location: Anchorage, AK
We are seeking a Legal Assistant to join our fast-paced law firm in Anchorage, Alaska. In this role, you will provide support to our estate planning and probate department by managing a variety of tasks, including document drafting and organization, client communication, legal research, financial coordination, and administrative duties. This is a great opportunity for someone with law office experience, or a recent graduate with a strong interest in the legal field, to join our team and grow their skills and knowledge in estate planning and probate law.
Key Responsibilities: - Draft, prepare, and organize estate planning and probate documents, including wills, trusts, and court filings - Communicate with clients to collect information, schedule appointments, and provide case updates - Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant laws and regulations - Manage case files to track deadlines and ensure compliance with court procedures and legal protocols - Assist with estate and trust accountings, manage estate finances, and liaise with financial institutions and accountants for tax matters and property transfers - Perform general office duties, including notarization of documents, court filings, billing, timekeeping, and maintaining client confidentiality throughout the estate planning and probate process
Qualifications: - Previous experience in a law office preferred, but willing to train the right candidate - Strong organizational and multitasking skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal software - Knowledge of estate planning and probate laws and procedures a plus - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
