We are seeking a Bilingual Immigration Defense Legal Assistant/Paralegal (F/T Eng/Sp) to join our team in our San Jose Main Office. Job Description: - Assist and support firm attorneys in the preparation and document processing of immigration benefits applications - Handle caseload management and client contact - Prepare application packets and draft cover letters - Gather evidence and prepare witness declarations - Obtain civil and criminal court records - Conduct potential client intake - Draft procedural motions before the immigration court and Board of Immigration Appeals - Field client contact through phone, web, and email - Other duties as assigned
Requirements: - Four years Bachelor's degree or NALA Paralegal Certification - At least one year of experience in the immigration field - Strong commitment to immigrants' and civil rights issues - Excellent bilingual English-Spanish communication skills (written and spoken) - Familiarity with Windows, office technology, and document management systems - Knowledge of Legal Case Management Software (INSZoom) is a plus - Desire to advance and grow professionally within the Firm and in the immigration legal community - Attorneys and law students need not apply
