Law Students (Paid. Part-time. Remote. Flexible.)
Work from wherever you want, whenever you want as a contractor for a flexible, part-time editing and law school admissions/prelaw consulting project. We are looking for several 1Ls, 2Ls, 3Ls and LLMs to work as a Law School Coach helping future law students with their law school applications and guiding and preparing them for 1L and beyond.
Please get in touch if you are a current law student or recent graduate and have:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to express ideas clearly and concisely Sound editorial judgment with strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills Exceptional understanding of grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary Extreme attention to detail Outstanding organizational and time-management skills Excellent understanding of general law school admissions process Excellent understanding of your own law school, including its admissions process, scholarship options and its faculty, academics, student life, registration process, course selection, classes, grading, internal organizations, career options and how to best prepare for 1L at your own law school Passion and enthusiasm for coaching and helping prospective law students with their applications, admissions process and law school career Keen sense of what is important to prospective law students and how to answer their admissions and prelaw questions Self-sufficiency, confidence, resourcefulness, good judgment, and discretion Creativity and originality Good computer skills, proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Word, and Skype/Zoom and similar programs
Key responsibilities include:
1) Editing project:
Proofreading, editing and revising all law school application materials including but not limited to resume, personal statement, statement of purpose and application forms for language, style, grammar, syntax and spelling and correcting all typos and grammatical errors. Critiquing, making revisions, substantive suggestions and comments on all application materials regarding the tone, content and structure based on your experience with the general admissions process and particularly with the admissions process and academics at your own school. Providing insider information and guidance regarding your own school and its admissions process, identifying key points that should be highlighted to increase admissions success. Providing comments to highlight strengths of the applicant and application in general.
2) Admissions consulting project: (via Video call, Audio call, Chat or Email)
Coaching prospective law students regarding law school admissions process in general and more specifically regarding the admissions process and scholarship options at your own law school. Helping with the interview process, waitlists and multiple acceptances Discussing and helping with their applications and application materials. Answering all admissions related questions particularly those regarding your own law school. Providing insider guidance and suggestions.
3) Pre-law consulting project: (via Video call, Audio call, Chat or Email)
Coaching prospective law students regarding law school and 1L in general, teaching them, among others, how to take notes, how to brief a case, how to handle cold calls, how to prepare for exams and how to best prepare for 1L Providing insider guidance and coaching prospective law students regarding your own law school, including, among other things, the faculty, academics, student life, course selection, registration, exam strategies, and career options and offering other exclusive insider tips about your own law school. Discussing among other things, how to prepare for and what to expect from first year of law school and beyond, tips for success and strategies on how to excel as a law student. Providing tips on how to utilize certain organizations and resources at your law school including, career services, library, professional organizations, clinics, workshops and student groups. Answering all related questions and providing insider guidance and suggestions.
