Summary: Join the MTA team as an experienced Labor Attorney at their headquarters in New York City. This position offers a salary range of $98,742 - $107,375 and HAY points of 611. As a Labor Attorney, you will represent the Authorities at administrative labor hearings and arbitrations, handle complex contractual grievances, and assist in formulating labor relations policy. This position also offers the opportunity for telework one day per week and is open to new hires after 30 days of their effective date of hire.
Responsibilities: - Represent the Authorities in administrative hearings and arbitrations on labor relations issues - Investigate labor disputes, prepare legal memoranda, and develop litigation strategies - Advise, train, and act as a liaison to the Labor Relations Staff - Assist in contract negotiations and investigations - Ensure uniformity of interpretation of policies and collective bargaining agreements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, and policies related to labor relations - Familiarity with labor relations law in the public or private sector - Ability to present cases at administrative hearings and perform legal research - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders - Excellent organizational and presentation skills
Education and Experience: - Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and NYS Bar Admission - Minimum of 3 years of experience in Labor Relations with emphasis on legal analysis
Preferred: - Prior trial experience - Experience in government and labor contract negotiations and litigations - Familiarity with MTA policies and procedures - Knowledge of MTA's collective bargaining procedures
