The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Project (DCVLP) has opened a new office in Montgomery County, Maryland and is currently accepting applications for a part-time spring semester internship beginning in January 2025. This internship offers the opportunity to work with a dedicated team of lawyers and administrators to provide legal services to low-income survivors of domestic violence in the community.
Job Title: Undergraduate Legal Intern Experience: Current college students or recent graduates
Responsibilities:
• Attend court hearings virtually and in person at Montgomery County District Court • Provide legal and administrative support to supervising and volunteer attorneys • Assist with case administration for domestic violence matters • Support the operation of weekly remote and in-person Domestic Violence Clinic • Complete additional projects as assigned
Requirements:
• Minimum commitment of 12-15 hours per week • Availability to attend weekly legal clinic at Rockville Library from 12-4pm every Wednesday • Ability to travel to and from DCVLP’s Rockville office, legal clinics, and Montgomery County District Court (travel expenses covered) • Attention to detail and strong organizational, computer, and writing skills • Positive attitude and ability to handle sensitive issues
The stipend for this internship is $500, paid in two installments of $250. Students who are not legally authorized to work in the U.S. are still eligible to participate in the internship. DCVLP can also assist in obtaining academic credit for the internship.
