The Administrative Office of the Courts, First Judicial District Court, is currently seeking a full-time, classified Judicial Specialist 2 for the Santa Fe Magistrate Court in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This position requires a high school diploma or GED, with at least two years of experience in court case processing, legal secretarial work, or a related field such as customer service, data processing, or banking/financial experience. Additional post-secondary education in a related field may substitute for up to one year of experience.
This position involves using the case management system to open, docket, and close cases, as well as providing customer service to pro se litigants. Other responsibilities include processing court documents, maintaining court exhibits, and performing clerical and technical duties involved in case processing, file maintenance, and jury management. The successful applicant must have knowledge of legal terminology, filing methods, and court fee accounting practices, as well as the ability to multitask and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities: - Use case management system to open, docket, and close cases based on judgement details - Provide customer service to pro se litigants, giving general procedural information without giving legal advice - Process, maintain, and distribute court documents, files, and case materials - Accurately assess, receipt, record, and reconcile monies, and prepare bank deposits - Review incoming filings for format, signatures, event code, and filing fees - Prepare and proofread documents such as notices and final orders - Maintain court calendars and schedules - Serve as a court monitor - Manage jury trial calendar and request for judges to schedule upcoming jury trials - Act as a courtroom clerk, producing Instant J&Ss and obtaining signatures from parties/counsel of record, assigned judge, and filing and distributing documents - Provide support to other courts within the judicial district - Instruct prospective jurors on how to complete information online and/or provide appropriate forms - Coordinate program participation with Specialty Programs within the Court - Troubleshoot recording equipment and maintain technical logs - Act as a liaison between court personnel, litigants, or attorneys to advance court proceedings - Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED - Two years of experience in court case processing, legal secretarial work, or related field - Knowledge of legal terminology and phrases, jury service, filing methods, and case processing - Familiarity with Specialty Court Programs and research methodology - Ability to multitask and maintain accurate records - Typing certification from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***or similar may be required, with a minimum typing proficiency score of 35 net words per minute - Certification for the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database and/or NM Court Monitor Certification Examination may be required
