Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Paralegal to join our team. This position is responsible for providing patent prosecution support for our Intellectual Property lawyers, with a focus on chemical, mechanical, and electrical arts, as well as biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree with a 3.5 cumulative GPA, and approximately 5-10 years of patent prosecution experience in a mid- to large-size law firm.
Key Responsibilities: • Assist with preparation and filing of patent applications, including provisional, non-provisional, and design patents • Manage prosecution of patent applications, including drafting of responses and filing with the USPTO • Review and manage docket deadlines, complete status checks, and ensure timely payment of maintenance fees for patents • Correspond with foreign counsel regarding new patent filings and related prosecution deadlines • Prepare and file Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications and manage related documents • Conduct due diligence and database searches for patent, assignment, and security lien status • Respond to client requests and maintain close relationships with clients • Assist with trademark portfolios and other practices as needed
Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree with a 3.5 cumulative GPA preferred, paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved school preferred • 5-10 years of patent prosecution experience in a mid- to large-size law firm • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Adobe • Strong communication and written skills • Able to work overtime and travel as needed • Able to lift up to 20 lbs and sit or stand for long periods of time
