Intellectual Property Litigation Counsel - Full Time, Permanent Position

Overview:
AbbVie, a global biopharmaceutical company, is seeking an experienced intellectual property litigator to join their team. This individual will have a strong track record in managing global patent and other IP litigation cases, with excellent judgment and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and have the ability to quickly familiarize themselves with AbbVie's products and IP assets. This position will report to the head of AbbVie's IP Litigation Group and will be based at the company's headquarters in North Chicago, with a hybrid work model (on site 3 days/week).
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing all U.S. and international patent litigation matters, trade secret disputes, and other IP-related disputes, working closely with outside counsel and internal clients. - Participating in key litigation proceedings, including depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, and trials. - Providing expert counsel on all IP litigation and related issues. - Advising senior management on global IP litigation matters. - Negotiating and drafting settlement agreements.
Qualifications:
- JD degree from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar (specific state not required). - 4 years of experience in patent litigation at a major law firm and/or in-house. - Excellent communication, analytical, organization, and negotiation skills. - Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities. - Strong interest and aptitude in science. - Preference for candidates with experience in molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, or biomedical engineering.
Additional Information:
- The salary range for this role is $133,500 - $253,500, based on job grade and location. This range may be modified in the future. - AbbVie offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k). - This position is eligible for short-term and long-term incentive programs. - All forms of compensation and benefits are at the sole discretion of the company, and may be modified at any time.
