We are seeking an Immigration Assistant to join our team and support our attorneys and case managers in the preparation, filing, and monitoring of various immigration and law matters. Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting Paralegals, Senior Paralegals, and Attorneys through email and phone communications. - Providing guidance to assignees on proprietary systems and case processing. - Developing an understanding of client communication procedures and requirements. - Inputting client services and sending them to Accounting for processing. - Learning procedures and documentation requirements for different case types and executing case processing tasks as assigned. - Processing basic corporate immigration cases. - Relaying concerns and proactively escalating them to the appropriate BAL team member(s). - Utilizing templates and prepared materials when completing documents for attorney review. - Managing the status of all filed applications and petitions and finalizing documents after attorney review. - Utilizing document and data management systems to prepare, monitor, and record all aspects of client casework. - Learning how to prepare internal caseload reports for management. - Sharing process flow with assignees based on templates. - Conducting research to obtain information on companies, industries, wages, and processing procedures. - Initiating contact with government agencies to obtain necessary information and alerting senior team members of potential process delays or problems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or 2 years of related business experience required. - Superb organizational skills. - Ability to follow instructions and take independent action. - Ability to manage cases and work within strict timelines. - Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written. - Ability to proofread and edit one's own work. - General computer knowledge, including word-processing, email, and forms software. - Professional and respectful attitude towards coworkers. - Ability to receive and analyze information. - Strong attention to detail and accuracy. - MS Office, Scan/Copy; ability to learn VB and Cobalt.
Working Conditions:
- Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time. - Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis. - Able to perform general office administrative activities, such as copying, filing, delivering, and using the telephone. - Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally. - Must be able to prioritize, schedule, and complete testing required for multiple applications with overlapping deadlines. - A certain degree of creativity and flexibility is required. - Hours may exceed 40 hours per week. - Occasional travel may be required.
Salary Information:
In accordance with Washington D.C.'s Wage Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this position is between $49,100 and $52,200. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law.
