Job Summary: - The Immigration Assistant will work with attorneys and case managers in the preparation, filing, and monitoring of various immigration and law matters. - This role offers excellent career-pathing opportunities, including the chance to learn and grow into a paralegal or other positions within the firm. - The Immigration Assistant will be responsible for supporting paralegals, senior paralegals, and attorneys through email and phone communication, providing guidance to assignees, and developing an understanding of client communication procedures and requirements. - This position will also involve inputting client services rendered, processing basic corporate immigration cases, and managing the status of filed applications and petitions. - The Immigration Assistant will utilize document and data management systems, perform research, and initiate contact with government agencies when necessary. - This role requires superb organizational skills, the ability to follow instructions and work independently, and the ability to manage cases and work within strict timelines. - The ideal candidate will have excellent English language skills, both verbal and written, and be proficient in MS Office and other computer software. - This position may require occasional travel and overtime hours.
Responsibilities: - Support paralegals, senior paralegals, and attorneys through email and phone communication - Provide limited guidance to assignees regarding proprietary systems and case processing - Develop understanding of client communication procedures and requirements - Input client services rendered and send to Accounting for processing - Learn procedures and documentation requirements for case types and execute case processing tasks as assigned - Process basic corporate immigration cases - Relay concerns and proactively escalate to the appropriate BAL team member(s) - Utilize templates and prepared materials when completing documents for attorney review - Manage status of all filed applications and petitions and finalize documents after attorney review - Utilize document and data management systems to prepare, monitor, and record all aspects of client casework - Prepare internal caseload reports for management - Share process flow with assignees - Perform research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, standard processing times, etc. - Initiate contact with government agencies to obtain necessary information
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or 2 years of related business experience required - Superb organizational skills - Ability to follow instructions and take actions independently - Ability to manage cases and work within strict timelines - Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written - Ability to proofread and edit one's own work product - General computer knowledge and typing skills, including word-processing, email, and forms software - Professional, respectful attitude towards all coworkers - Ability to receive and analyze information - Ability to share information with office members - Strong attention to detail and accuracy - Proficiency in MS Office and other computer software
