Duane Morris LLP, a prestigious global law firm with over 800 attorneys, is seeking an experienced IP Docketing Systems Specialist to join their Intellectual Property Practice Group in Washington D.C. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the docketing database and providing support to various teams within the IP practice group. If you have a thorough understanding of domestic and foreign patent and trademark prosecution, experience with docketing databases, and strong computer skills, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Assist with the creation and maintenance of documentation for all processes involving IP systems updates and maintenance - Collaborate with the IP Docketing Systems Administrator on system updates and upgrades - Manage intakes and transfers, ensuring successful importation or exportation of data - Create, maintain, and deactivate user accounts in the docketing database, the firm’s USPTO deposit account, and PAIR - Generate statistical reports within the docketing database as requested by management - Calendar important dates for patent and trademark application filings, formalities, office actions, and maintenance fees - Download electronic correspondence or scan incoming mail from USPTO, foreign patent offices, or foreign agents and file into document management system - Circulate incoming correspondence to appropriate attorney teams - Prepare firm-standard and custom docket reports for attorney teams - Manage department page on firm intranet - Proactively monitor due dates to ensure timely deadlines are met - Review outstanding dates in the docketing database and make necessary updates - Participate in IP practice group and docketing team meetings - Provide back-up support to other docketers as needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - High school diploma - At least 5 years of experience working with docketing databases - Thorough understanding of domestic and foreign patent and trademark prosecution and lifecycles - Familiarity with various patent and trademark offices - Knowledge of docketing terminology, best practices, and patent & trademark laws - Ability to independently determine priority dates, calculate due dates, and verify terms within IP management software - Experience working with electronic filing systems and navigating patent office databases - Strong computer skills with the ability to manipulate and analyze data - Demonstrated attention to detail, time management skills, and problem-solving mindset
