Job Title: General Counsel Salary: Competitive Base Pay Experience: Minimum of 5 years applicable law practice experience Location: Cisco, TX
Position Summary:
- Chief legal advisor for a family office overseeing various business ventures and personal activities - Responsible for ensuring legal compliance and mitigating risks while supporting business and family objectives - Requires a strong understanding of the organization's business model and ability to manage complex legal issues in a fast-paced environment - Close relationship with the Wilks family
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic guidance with legal expertise and financial insights to generate tailored solutions for unique circumstances and objectives - Manage legal and regulatory matters, including entity formation, regulatory filings, conflicts of interest, etc. - Assist with resolution of family disputes and navigate complex family relationships - Assess and mitigate risks while aligning with family's goals - Ensure legal compliance with terms of trusts, wills, agreements, and contracts - Perform due diligence on investments, business plans, and personal projects - Assist with corporate transactions and family governance - Consult with tax advisors on income tax matters - Advise on private foundations and philanthropic initiatives - Source and manage external counsel when needed - Other legal or closely related responsibilities as required
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Must have a J.D. with admission to the Texas bar - Minimum of 5 years applicable law practice experience - Strong communication skills to explain complex legal matters and maintain confidentiality - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Understanding of discretion required for family confidentiality
