Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Performs a variety of duties as assigned, including but not limited to, general sanitation of the department, customer relations and service delivery, and food preparation and appropriate storage.
*Completes all cleaning and sanitation tasks as assigned, such as washing dishes, pots and utensils used in cooking and serving food. *May be responsible for or assist with maintenance of kitchen and production equipment. *Completes required documentation that includes temperature logs according to documentation requirement. *Participates in department activities/meetings, which may include orientation of co-workers, patient/customer satisfaction initiatives, cost reduction initiatives, and inspection readiness. *Completes all general food service tasks as assigned which may include tray assembly and/or delivery, floor stock processing, and related cleaning. *Completes cafeteria tasks as assigned that may include cash handling and food prep. *Administers and documents menus and requests for patient food items utilizing automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Experience: Food Service experience preferred.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: In areas in which employee is deemed in charge of departmental operations, SERV-Safe Certification or equivalent certification from the Virginia Health Department is required; or ability to obtain certification within year one in this position.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills required. Keyboarding or computer skills for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records preferred. Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for position. Basic literacy (reading and writing skills) required to perform essential job functions. Must be able to communicate effectively and read written materials.
Position is deemed ‘emergency personnel' during emergency weather conditions. Must provide own transportation and travel to other Carilion work sites. May be required to work at other Carilion facilities to meet staffing needs.
