**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** is seeking an Eviction Prevention Attorney to join their team in the Lewiston office. This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $69,490 - $106,490, depending on experience.
Job Summary:
The Eviction Prevention Attorney will focus on eviction defense in Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford Counties in rural Maine. They will provide direct legal advocacy to low-income tenants at risk of losing their housing, including legal advice, negotiations, mediation, and full representation. The attorney will also assist tenants in applying for rental assistance and engage in outreach to educate tenants, advocates, and providers on housing stability. Some evening or weekend work may be required for trainings, meetings, or outreach activities. Frequent travel within Maine is also required for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, low-barrier legal services to tenants at risk of eviction - Represent clients in eviction proceedings and negotiate on their behalf - Assist tenants with applications for rental assistance and other resources - Conduct outreach and education activities to promote housing stability - Travel within Maine for work-related activities, including trainings and court appearances - Occasionally provide coverage for eviction cases in other areas of Maine
Qualifications:
- Admitted to the practice of law in Maine or eligible for licensure with the Maine Bar - Previous litigation experience is strongly preferred - Passion for social justice and relevant work experience - Ability to handle a high-volume practice - Willingness to reside in or relocate to Maine
