ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Office of Research Programs & Initiatives department provides the critical infrastructure needed so that UC researchers and creatives can take their ideas to the next level. They are seeking to hire an Events & Communications Manager to join their team.

JOB OVERVIEW
This position will manage the event planning, facilitation, and programming for **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** (UC) Office of Research's signature programs, including the Digital Futures building. Curate events and programs designed to foster collaboration among UC researchers and the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Manage, design, develop, modify and present programs.  Perform program needs assessment and make recommendations. *Implement policies and procedures. *Maintain budget, prepare contracts, approve and monitor expenditures, prepare budget requests and financial reports. *Act as liaison to internal departments, external entities and community organizations. *May prepare and edit reports and/or newsletters and develop publication materials. *May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). *Manage the planning, support and logistics for events hosted at the Digital Futures building, including actively seeking programming partners for event spaces. *Collaborate with other departments within the Office of Research (OoR) to produce programming and events. *Generate content and copy for OoR media outlets including emails, newsletters, website and social media. *Serve as onsite point of contact for all OoR and Digital Future events and programs. *Research, gather and utilize event data to refine and influence programming and activities of OoR. *Assist in the development of the space management/reservation process for Digital Futures event and meeting rooms. *Provide oversight of the space/reservation systems and technologies of Digital Futures.   *Assist in the establishment of event policies and guidelines for use of meeting spaces at Digital Futures. *Perform related duties based on departmental need. REQUIRED EDUCATION
*Bachelor's Degree. *Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
*Three (3) years of experience in program development or business administration. *May require supervision experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
*Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
