The Office for Institutional Equity at Johns Hopkins University is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Equity Compliance Investigator to join their dynamic team. The main responsibilities of this role include assessing and investigating complaints of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation, as well as presenting educational programs and providing support in conflict resolution efforts. The ideal candidate will have a JD from an accredited law school and at least five years of experience in investigating and resolving discrimination and harassment complaints.
Equity Compliance Investigators play a key role in ensuring the University's compliance with federal, state, and local laws related to equal opportunity. It requires sound judgment and the ability to apply equal opportunity principles and legal standards to complex problems. The successful candidate will also have exceptional writing and analytical skills, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage conflict and work with individuals under stress.
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with a flexible schedule of 8:30am to 5:00pm. The role is exempt and located on the Homewood Campus in Baltimore, Maryland. The starting salary range for this position is $98,800 - $173,300 annually, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a point of contact for discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation claims. Conduct assessments and investigations of complaints and prepare comprehensive reports with analysis of applicable laws and University policies. Provide input and/or testimony in disciplinary proceedings related to investigations. Deliver training and educational programs to University community members. Participate in the development and evaluation of University policies and procedures related to equal opportunity.
Qualifications:
JD from an accredited law school. Five years of experience investigating and resolving discrimination and harassment complaints. Exceptional writing and analytical skills. Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and emotional intelligence. Ability to manage and work with conflict. Ability to work independently and balance workload. Demonstrated expertise in applying relevant laws and regulations.
