Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. (WSSI) is seeking a part-time Environmental Compliance Technician to join our team in Southwest/Central Florida (Tampa, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Orlando vicinity). Job responsibilities will include National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) inspections and reporting, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) development, and coordinating with federal and state resource agencies regarding erosion and sediment control and stormwater compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES -Working with a diverse client base in both the public and private sectors -Organized individuals and possess outstanding communication skills -Ability to work independently -Daily tasks include coordinating with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies regarding environmental concerns associated with development -Work will concentrate on environmental permit compliance and reporting for active construction sites -Weekend, holiday work, and out-of-town travel may be required and are considered within the realm of job responsibility
REQUIRED -Bachelors Degree in environmental studies, wildlife biology, or related field -Possession of a valid Driver's License -Ability to safely lift 50 pounds -Ability to work safely and independently in the outdoors under a wide range of terrains and weather conditions
PREFERRED -At least one year of construction related monitoring/inspection experience -Erosion and sediment control certifications (CPESC, CESSWI, CISEC, and/or Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector Training & Certification) -Knowledge of plant identification, wildlife survey/monitoring, wetland delineation, authorized gopher tortoise agent, environmental permitting, and/or non-native/invasive plant species management
