General Purpose and Scope of the position:
The Director of Disability Support Services (DSS) will be responsible for the development and implementation of programs to assist students with Accessibility support and resources. The Director will be tasked with the design, assessment, and tracking of activities and outcomes that promote persistence and retention by ensuring that students receive timely and appropriate accommodations. The Director will advise students with disabilities to ensure access to opportunities and foster the skills and networks that are foundational for success. The Director will also assist the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs with Title IX and Student Conduct as needed.
Major Responsibilities:
Meet with students to conduct intake, develop individual plans based on their unique circumstances and needs, monitor progress for all services offered.
Promote accessibility services to students to ensure they are receiving the necessary support, serve as an advocate for students.
Facilitate student access and use of campus and community resources.
Manage case load in a manner that promotes retention, persistence, and student success through proactive interactions and interventions.
Monitor and maintain case notes in electronic student records systems Identify, secure and coordinate, and advocate in accordance with the American
Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, appropriate and reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities.
Provide proactive and individualized success coaching to students with disabilities
Provide necessary support and materials for faculty, staff, and other service providers to assist in the identification and development of methods to best serve students. Provide ongoing training and professional development.
Maintain good working relationships with community agencies and partners
Demonstrate strong commitment to student development and success through advocacy, positive attitude, adaptability, approachability, problem solving, and support
Engage in behaviors that create an inclusive environment in which all people are valued, supported, and respected
Assist in coordinating programs on campus that connect students with resources and that celebrate inclusion
Assist the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs with Title IX and Student Conduct on an as-needed basis.
This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Higher Education, or a related field required.
One to two years of work experience in a related field Effective verbal and written communication skills Strong administrative and computer skills

Ability to partner well with colleagues both in and outside of the organization.
Ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Social Work, Higher Education, or related field preferred.
Experience working in an educational setting.
Hiring Range:
$48,000 - $55,000
