Work type: Full Time Administrative Location: Indianapolis, IN Categories: Administrative/Professional General Description of Position: The Director for Diversity, Equity and Belonging has responsibility to provide the necessary planning, structure, leadership and direction for the full execution for a campus-wide diversity program. Reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, Belonging and Community Engagement, this position is responsible for developing a campus-wide approach to enhancing excellence through diversity and inclusion of students, faculty, staff, and the broader community. The Director will help to create an organizational culture that sets clear expectations, provides appropriate support, and engenders respect and dignity at all levels of the organization, in collaboration with the Office of Diversity, Equity and Belonging at Systems Office. Major Responsibilities: Provides vision, leadership, management, and strategic planning for inclusion and equity programming across campus Partners with Marketing to provide consistent message to the College community on diversity-related issues to advance the mission of the College Maintains positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders Works closely and collaboratively with other departments across the Indianapolis service area Represents the College at various community, civic, professional meetings, and conferences, as requested Create, implement and manages new programs and initiatives focused on supporting diverse student populations that create a greater sense of belonging Organizes outreach efforts to market engagement of the Intercultural Center of Excellence and the Reflection Room Manages area budgets and ensure that all related financial policies and procedures are being implemented Serves on the statewide Diversity Lead team in collaboration with the Systems Office Diversity team Serves as a liaison for individuals who have specific issues related to inclusion and equity and works with internal channels to address issues of bias, equity and/or belonging This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements and professional standards. Minimum Qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree required Subject matter expert expertise in diversity and inclusion required. Minimum of 3 years of related experience in diversity programming required. Ivy Tech Community College: Director for Diversity, Equity and Belonging Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued. Experience working with diverse community groups required Must have demonstrated ability to build inclusive programs with evaluation metrics of success. Experience working with diverse community groups required. Good judgment, discretion, tact and the ability to work easily with senior leaders within the higher education, charitable, government, and business sectors is required. Must demonstrate ability to partner well with colleagues both in and outside of the organization. Must possess valid driver’s license and have ability and willingness to travel. Must have the willingness and ability to occasionally travel on College business, be willing to work occasional extended hours with notice, and be willing and capable of communication outside of normal work hours. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree and/or related professional certification preferred.
