Summary: The MTA is seeking a Director of Labor Relations (Field Operations) to oversee labor/management relations within various divisions and departments. This full-time, regular position offers a competitive salary range of $135,136 - $140,415 DOE and is eligible for telework with one day per week currently allowed. The successful candidate will have proven leadership skills, advanced mediation and interpersonal skills, and a strong knowledge of public sector labor law.
Responsibilities: • Direct and manage the disciplinary process and provide guidance on disciplinary charges • Represent the division(s) as a hearing officer at pre-arbitration hearings • Negotiate resolutions to contract and labor disputes • Supervise support staff and provide career development for subordinates • Participate in collective bargaining negotiations and implementation of labor contracts
Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Labor Relations or related field, with 8 years of related experience • Master's degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience • Preferred qualifications include a J.D. and familiarity with MTA policies and collective bargaining agreements • Must file Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure and may need to work outside normal hours and travel to other MTA locations or external sites
