Ardent Health Services (AHS) is seeking a highly experienced Director of Operations Counsel to join our team in Brentwood, Tennessee. In this role, you will be responsible for providing legal counsel, guidance, and representation to our company and its affiliated healthcare operations. You will work closely with senior counsel to advise on a wide range of matters relating to healthcare operations, general corporate transactions, regulatory and compliance issues, employment, medical staff issues, and patient concerns. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of day-to-day healthcare operations and experience with physician and hospital contracts.
Responsibilities:
- Advise hospital and corporate leadership on complex legal and operational issues - Participate in the development of system policies and procedures - Draft, review, and negotiate contracts to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company policies - Assist with compliance investigations and coordinate with the Compliance Department - Continuously increase legal knowledge and professional expertise - Collaborate with other departments to provide legal services - Assist in the development of policies and procedures to achieve company goals within legal parameters - Use legal skills and experience to resolve disputes with third parties
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school - Current license to practice law - 4 years of experience in healthcare law, including knowledge of EMTALA, HIPAA, Stark, ACA, fraud and abuse, healthcare regulatory compliance, and hospital governance and operations - Experience with editing, drafting, and negotiating contracts, specifically in hospital and physician contracting - Fundamental understanding of healthcare regulations, government reimbursement programs, and value-based care initiatives - Previous experience at a law firm - Ability to travel up to 25% as needed
