Overview:
Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is a leading global professional services firm that specializes in providing tax, turnaround management, restructuring, performance improvement, and corporate advisory services. We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Director to join our Corporate M&A Tax team in Chicago, IL. As a Director, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging and complex projects, develop and maintain client relationships, and grow and be supported through our robust performance development process.
Responsibilities:
As a member of the A&M Corporate M&A Tax team, you will:
Demonstrate an understanding of complex tax concepts and effectively apply tax knowledge to client situations Develop and deliver quality tax planning approaches with timely and responsive services Perform due diligence, including review of tax returns, financials, and other tax documentation Plan and execute post-merger integration strategies Develop and deliver complex tax models, tax benefit analysis, and stock basis calculations Review and comment on tax aspects of purchase agreements Coordinate with state and local and international tax team members, as well as financial and operational due diligence team members Develop and maintain client relationships
Qualifications:
CPA, JD (with bachelor's degree in accounting, preferred), Masters in Taxation, or LLM At least 7 years of relevant experience in a mergers & acquisitions tax practice Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting Strong understanding of tax regulations and planning considerations Strong writing, analytical, research, excel, and organizational skills Strong communication, presentation, project management, and business development skills Strong sense of personal motivation and ability to work with a team Ability to work in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment
Benefits and Salary:
Regular employees working 30 or more hours per week are entitled to participate in our fringe benefits program, including healthcare plans, flexible spending and savings accounts, life, AD&D, and disability coverages, and a 401(k) retirement plan. Eligible employees will also receive a discretionary contribution to their 401(k) from A&M. Paid time off including vacation, personal days, sick time, federal holidays, floating holiday, and parental leave. Salary range of $165,000 - $200,000 annually, dependent on education, experience, skills, and location. Discretionary bonus program based on individual and firm performance.
