WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Provide counsel for litigation and bankruptcy matters related to content Review legal requests related to releases, and maintain release templates Review third party interim financing documentation Build process, and liaison with internal finance department, on revenue sharing Review non-disclosure agreement requests Provide legal support on production guidelines and related documentation Review background check requests Provide legal research and support on production and talent related matters (ex. drones, elected official appearances, minors, controlled substances, construction oversight …) Review and summarize complicated legal documents as requested by supervising counsel Provide legal support to mitigate potential legal issues related to securing content and talent, and assist in developing strategies to reduce potential areas of risk Perform other tasks as requested by supervising counsel Negotiate legal aspects of agreements related to duties and responsibilities, and as assigned by supervisor Advise client groups and/or supervising attorney regarding compliance with contractual provisions Maintain databases to reflect status of work product Interface with legal department members and/or outside counsel Develop and maintain relationships with outside counsel and other related personnel for the benefit of the company Interface with corporate risk management to ensure adequate coverage of all appropriate risks Participate in the development of strategies for the optimization of the value of the company's assets Serve as source of information for supervising attorney, client group and/or legal department in regards to obligations, rights, restrictions, and contractual provisions Function as an information source in regards to the company's rights and obligations Stay current in regards to developments within the industry, and changes in applicable technology, to maintain efficiency in performance Maintain visibility in the industry by regularly interacting with peers in similar positions at other companies Employees will also perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
What do you need to have?
Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from an accredited institution Minimum of 8 years of experience in related field Active License to practice law in the United States
In addition, we would like to have:
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and coordination of resources Knowledge of laws, legal codes, precedents, and regulations related to contracts and intellectual property Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media Negotiation skills Knowledge of best practices that may require significant innovation for improving products, processes or services by applying advanced understanding of complex functional/technical and business issues and challenges Ability to Integrate internal and external views to create a business-relevant perspective Ability to anticipate resources requirements and modify plans as needed Entertainment Industry experience a plus
Proficient with Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook Strong background with Internet based search engines Proficient with cloud-based document management and storage software
Active license to practice law with Tennessee and/or New York admission preferred Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills Strong organizational skills with ability to act independently and responsibly Capacity to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must be able to work collaboratively with team members Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional groups
