Summary:
The Bannock County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Deputy Sheriff - Detention to join their team. As a Deputy Sheriff - Detention, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the County detention center. This includes monitoring staff and inmates, enforcing standards, policies, and procedures, and responding to emergencies. You will also be responsible for processing new inmates, conducting searches for weapons and contraband, and escorting inmates to and from facilities.
The ideal candidate for this position is a "people person" with high character, honesty, and integrity. They should also have a passion for helping others and protecting their community. Previous law enforcement or detention facility experience is preferred, but a combination of experience and training will be considered.
To be eligible for this position, you must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency, with a degree in criminal justice or a related field preferred. You must also successfully complete a polygraph examination and the Police Officer Safety and Training (POST) Physical Fitness Test. Additionally, you must obtain Idaho POST basic detention certification within one year of hire and have a valid Idaho driver's license.
