Position Summary: - Represent the Nevada Department of Corrections and its employees in federal and state court proceedings - Draft legal briefs, conduct legal research, and present oral arguments in court - Provide day-to-day legal advice to the Department of Corrections and ensure compliance with public records laws - Approve contracts on behalf of the Department
Salary: - Up to $135,201.00 Employee/Employer Paid or $115,804.00 Employer Paid (DOE)
Experience: - Graduation from an accredited law school and licensed in Nevada or eligible for limited practice certification - Preference for those with recent litigation and/or government service experience - Working knowledge of civil and appellate procedure, evidence, and local court rules preferred
Skills Required: - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work independently and meet deadlines - Professionalism, organization, self-motivation, punctuality, and leadership skills
Physical Demands: - Ability to work in a typical office setting and travel as needed - Must be able to read printed materials and use standard office equipment - Reasonable accommodations available upon request for qualified individuals with disabilities
