Job Description:
- Represent clients in felony cases from arraignment through jury trial - Handle settlement negotiations, contested motions, preliminary hearings, and writs - Develop and represent private practice criminal cases in Placer and surrounding counties - Ideal for an experienced public defender looking to develop a private practice - Must possess heavy advocacy and criminal litigation experience - Proficient in legal research and writing - Must be adaptable to new technology - Must be a member of the California State Bar
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in felony cases from arraignment through jury trial - Negotiate settlements and handle contested motions, preliminary hearings, and writs - Develop and represent private practice criminal cases in Placer and surrounding counties - Provide high-quality legal representation to clients - Conduct legal research and writing - Stay updated on new laws and regulations related to criminal defense - Collaborate with other team members to strategize and handle cases effectively - Attend court hearings and proceedings as needed - Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in criminal defense - Admission to the California State Bar - Strong advocacy and litigation skills - Excellent legal research and writing abilities - Familiarity with current technology and its applications in the legal field - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously - Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
