Role Overview:
As a Criminal Defense Attorney at the Jeffcoat Law Firm, you will play a pivotal role in defending the rights of individuals accused of criminal offenses. Utilizing your legal expertise, strategic thinking, and persuasive communication, you will ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct investigations, gather evidence, analyze case facts, and formulate defense strategies for clients with criminal charges. - Conduct initial consultations with clients to evaluate their cases, explain legal rights, and advise on potential outcomes and options. - Represent clients in various legal proceedings, including arraignments, bail hearings, pre-trial hearings, trials, and sentencing hearings. - Present arguments, cross-examine witnesses, challenge evidence, and protect clients' interests. - Conduct thorough legal research on statutes, case law, and precedents to develop defense strategies. - Collaborate with legal assistants, investigators, and experts to gather evidence and strengthen defense strategies. - Engage in negotiations with prosecutors to seek favorable plea bargains or settlements on behalf of clients. - Attend required morning and monthly meetings. - Perform other job duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. - Admitted to practice law in South Carolina. - Minimum of 1 year of experience practicing criminal defense law. - A very strong forward-thinking growth mindset and commitment to constant learning and improvement. - Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
