The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** (CVLAP) is currently seeking a Staff Attorney to join their team. This position will focus on providing legal assistance to domestic violence survivors in the Muskegon and Holland areas. CVLAP is a statewide program that works in collaboration with various legal aid organizations to provide outreach, representation, and advocacy to victims of crime, primarily domestic violence and elder abuse survivors.
As a division of the Michigan Advocacy Program (MAP), CVLAP is committed to advancing the safety, independence, and economic stability of those most affected by poverty, racism, and other oppressive systems. With over 50 years of experience, MAP has been providing civil legal aid to those in need. In addition to CVLAP, MAP manages six other statewide programs that serve various vulnerable populations.
The ideal candidate for this position should be licensed to practice law in Michigan, qualified for admission by waiver, or able to take the next Michigan bar exam. They must also have a demonstrated commitment to serving low-income individuals and underserved populations, whether through lived or learned experience. Experience with domestic violence or elder abuse cases is preferred.
The salary for this position starts at $60,000, depending on experience. In addition, MAP offers a generous benefits package, including life, short and long-term disability, health, vision, dental, and flexible spending accounts. For those who do not require health benefits, there is an option to receive an annual $1,500 payout in addition to the base salary. MAP also has a generous leave policy and a 401K retirement plan with employer match for eligible staff. This position also qualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS: - Licensed to practice law in Michigan, qualified for admission by waiver, or able to take the next Michigan bar exam. - Demonstrated commitment to serving low-income individuals and underserved populations. - Experience with issues impacting domestic violence or elder abuse survivors is a plus.
