Summary:
NBCUniversal is seeking a Counsel/Sr. Counsel to join their EPIC Legal Team in support of the NBCU News Group, including NBC News, MSNBC, CNBC, E! News, NBCU Local, and Telemundo Network. This role will primarily focus on supporting the newsrooms of Telemundo Network and Telemundo Station Group, with additional counseling for NBC News, MSNBC, and CNBC. The ideal candidate will have 5 years of legal experience, fluency in Spanish, and a passion for news and press freedom.
Responsibilities:
- Advise editorial leadership and journalists on media law and publication issues - Conduct pre-broadcast and pre-publication review - Counsel on newsgathering and access issues - Provide legal training for the newsroom - Monitor legal developments affecting the press and freedom of speech - Partner with specialist lawyers across NBCUniversal’s Legal Department - Contribute to an inclusive, collaborative, and creative team culture
Qualifications:
- Law degree and member in good standing of the State Bar - 5 years of legal experience for Counsel, 7 years for Sr. Counsel - Fluency in Spanish - Working knowledge of media law and ethics - Passion for news and press freedom - High level of integrity and professionalism - Strong writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
